Thailand has over 63 million inhabitants. Thais are mainly Buddhist with a minority of Muslims, Hindus and Christians. The official language of Thailand is Thai. English is also used in small areas.
Thailand is a rich agricultural land and the majority of inhabitants in the countryside live with the culture of rice in the central, northern and north-eastern regions of Thailand. The climate is tropical. Thailand is growing and industrialization is increasing rapidly and as a result many people are moving from countryside to urban centers.

It had a close relationship with England which signed the Treaty of Amity and Commerce in 1938 with Thailand and for the first time this country was accepted by a western nation.
Japanese invaded Thailand during the second world War. In 1945 after the Japanese lost the war, Thailand began a close relationship with the United States which facilitate the communist regime ascension to power.
Economy of Thailand relies on exports. Rice is the principal cash crop and it is exported to numerous countries across the globe. Fishery is the major industry and with rubber, corn and sugar it comprise a large part of the export market.
